The profile is the main difference
An O-ring has a circular cross-section. An X-ring has a four-lobed profile that creates multiple sealing lines and can hold lubricant between the lips.
When an X-ring may help
In suitable dynamic applications, the X-ring profile can reduce rolling or twisting and may operate with less friction. It is not an automatic replacement: groove design, pressure, speed, media, and material still need review.
What to send with an inquiry
Provide the groove dimensions or part drawing, working media, temperature, pressure, motion type, required quantity, and any standard or test requirement. This information makes the quotation more accurate.
